马第
Architect whose design for the concrete Gutzlaff Signal Tower on the Bund was chosen by the French Municipal Council in 1906 and built in 1907–08.
Marti (马第, Mǎdì) is the architect named in the Shanghai gazetteer as the designer of the Gutzlaff Signal Tower. The French Municipal Council chose his reinforced-concrete design in 1906 over a rival scheme by a railway engineer, signed the contract in February 1907, and the tower was built in 1907–08. Wikipedia articles identify him as Spanish but disagree on his full name, so it is left as the gazetteer gives it.
