Zhongshan Park Shopping District

Zhongshan Park (中山公园, Zhōngshān Gōngyuán) is a shopping district in the west of central Shanghai, built around a metro station where Lines 2, 3 and 4 meet. Shanghai’s 2022–2035 commercial plan names it one of the city’s 29 city-level commercial centres, about 0.5 km² with some 500,000 m² of planned shop and mall floor space. Visitors come for one very large mall and for the transport connections rather than for historic sights.

The district’s growth follows the metro. Zhongshan Park station opened with Line 2 on 20 September 1999. Line 3 joined it on 27 December 2000 and Line 4 on 31 December 2005. Until 30 December 2006 the station was the western end of Line 2.

The anchor is the Longemont City Life Center (龙之梦城市生活中心, Lóngzhīmèng Chéngshì Shēnghuó Zhōngxīn), at 1018 Changning Road. It opened on 18 December 2005 as Cloud Nine Shopping Mall, was renamed Longemont Shopping Park in 2017, and took its present name in December 2022. The owner, Shanghai Changfeng (Group), sold half of the mall to CapitaLand Commercial in December 2007. The complex is 238 m tall with 60 floors; sources give its total floor area as either 300,000 or 320,000 square metres.

The mall lies northeast of the station. Passengers on Lines 3 and 4 can walk to its second floor along an elevated link from the north side of the station.
